Quick answer: No, you pay from day one. DeleteMe has no free plan or trial, and its help center says you need a credit card to start. What’s free is a scan of about 30 people-search sites. Two codes worked at checkout on 10/08/2026, JOINNOW and SCAN20, cutting the first year from $129 to $103.20.
Is DeleteMe free? The full answer
No. On 10/08/2026 DeleteMe had no free plan and no free trial, and it creates your account only after payment. Its help center says, “Yep, you’ll need a credit card to get started with DeleteMe,” and that all subscriptions renew automatically. The first charge happens at checkout, for the whole year or two years upfront.
What you can do for free is run a scan. It takes an email, your first and last name, a city and state, and your age, and it finished in about 30 seconds when I ran it. It removes nothing and saves nothing to an account. Right after the scan, DeleteMe emailed me a 20% code.
What’s in the free scan (and what isn’t)
The free scan shows where you might appear. Everything that does the work is paid.
| Feature | Free scan | Standard plan ($129/year) |
|---|---|---|
| Sites checked | About 30 people-search sites, once | 91 domains marked Standard on DeleteMe’s list |
| What you see | Sites with matches, details blurred | Privacy report site by site, four times a year |
| Opt-out requests | None | Sent by DeleteMe staff |
| Custom removal requests | None | 40 a year |
| Repeat scans | Run it again yourself | Four a year |
| Account and dashboard | No | Yes |
| Card required | No | Yes |
The plan column comes from DeleteMe’s pricing page and coverage list on 10/08/2026. I didn’t buy the plan.
Where the free scan ends
The scan ends at a sales page. With a test name, it said “Clean Slate Detected” and “We Didn’t Find Anything (Yet).” With a very common name in New York, it reported 30 sites scanned, 8 with info found and 21 pieces of exposed personal data. The names and addresses on those cards are blurred by DeleteMe, there are no links to the listings, and the button under the numbers leads to the paid plans with a 20% code.
If the scan finds nothing, that doesn’t mean you’re clear. DeleteMe itself says the scan “checks a limited number of sites at one point in time.”
What you pay after the free scan
- First year for 1 person: $129.00 at checkout, shown on the site as $10.75/mo
- Two years for 1 person: $209.00, about $104.50 a year (our math: $209 ÷ 2)
- Sales tax: none shown before the card step with a New York address on 10/08/2026
- Renewal: the amount isn’t shown. The checkout terms say the plan renews “at either the current or full retail rate”
- Auto-renew: agreed through a required checkbox at checkout
Every plan, the renewal terms and how to cancel are on the DeleteMe pricing page.
Coupons, discounts and extended trials
Two codes worked at DeleteMe’s checkout on 10/08/2026. Both apply to the first term only.
| Code | Where I got it | 1 person, 1 year at checkout |
|---|---|---|
| JOINNOW | DeleteMe’s email after the free scan | $129.00 − $25.80 = $103.20 |
| SCAN20 | The free scan result page | $129.00 − $25.80 = $103.20 |
With SCAN20 applied, DeleteMe’s plans page said “Billed at $103.20 for your first year” for one person, $183.20 for two people and $263.20 for a family of four. The words “first year” mean the discount doesn’t carry over to the renewal.
There’s no extended trial. The closest thing is the refund rule: DeleteMe gives a full refund if you cancel before your first privacy report, which it says comes about seven business days after sign-up, and a prorated refund after that.
How to run the free scan (short version)
- Open the Free Scan page on joindeleteme.com and enter your email.
- Enter your first and last name.
- Enter your city and state and your age, check the box for the terms, and click “Get FREE Report.”
- Wait about 30 seconds for the result.
What happens after you pay, from the datasheet to custom requests, is in the DeleteMe review.

- Optery’s free plan has no time limit and asked for no card at sign-up on 10/08/2026. It shows where your profiles appear and leaves the opt-outs to you.

Is the free scan worth starting with?
Yes, as a quick check, as long as you read it for what it is. The scan covers about 30 sites once and hides the details, so a clean result proves little and a list of matches mostly tells you that a paid plan has work to do. If you decide to buy, use one of the codes above: JOINNOW or SCAN20 took $25.80 off the first year on 10/08/2026. Then turn renewal off or set a reminder, because the second year’s price isn’t shown.

FAQ
Is DeleteMe free?
No. DeleteMe has no free plan and no free trial on 10/08/2026. The free part is a one-time scan that shows which people-search sites have matches for your name and city. It doesn’t remove anything and doesn’t create an account.
Do I need a credit card to sign up for DeleteMe?
Yes. DeleteMe’s help center says, “Yep, you’ll need a credit card to get started with DeleteMe.” The account is created when you pay. The free scan needs only an email, a name, a city and state, and your age.
What does the DeleteMe free scan check?
About 30 people-search sites. A scan for a common name on 10/08/2026 reported 30 sites scanned, with matches on 8, including PeopleFinders, That’s Them and AnyWho. DeleteMe says the scan “checks a limited number of sites at one point in time.” The paid plan covers more.
Is there a DeleteMe promo code?
Yes, two worked on 10/08/2026. JOINNOW, from the email DeleteMe sent after my free scan, and SCAN20, from the scan result page, each took $25.80 off the 1-person, 1-year plan, so the total was $103.20. Both apply to the first year only.
Does DeleteMe have a free trial?
No. There’s no trial, but the refund rule works a bit like one: you get a full refund if you cancel before your first privacy report, which DeleteMe says arrives about seven business days after sign-up. After that, refunds are prorated.
How much does DeleteMe cost after the free scan?
The 1-person plan was $129 a year on 10/08/2026, or $209 for two years. Two people cost $229 a year, a family of four $329, and Premium $180. The renewal amount isn’t printed before payment. Prices verified on 10/08/2026 on DeleteMe’s site.
