Why this site exists

Most pages that rank for “best data removal service” or “LifeLock review” are rewritten from vendor pages. They quote the broker count from the landing page, the price from the pricing page, and the refund window from nowhere. Nobody opened an account. Nobody reached the checkout to see the renewal price.

Vetted Privacy covers one reader: an adult in the U.S. who found their address on a people-search site, got a breach letter, or wants to stop a subscription from renewing at twice the first-year price. The site reviews services that charge for that: data removal, identity theft protection, password managers, VPNs, private email and aliases.

Every review answers the same questions. What do they ask for when you sign up. What does the checkout total look like with sales tax. Is the renewal price on the screen before you pay. How many clicks to cancel. How to delete your account afterward.

How we check services

The process is the same for every service, and it is written out on the methodology page.

  • I open a free plan or a trial with a test email and record every screen.
  • I go through the checkout up to the payment button. I don’t pay, and every page says so.
  • I open the cancellation screen, delete the account, and send one question to support.
  • I read the pricing page, the terms, the privacy policy and the help center on the same day.
  • I count user reports on Trustpilot, Reddit, BBB and the app stores, with dates.

Two tests repeat across every service: the US Privacy Checkout Test and the Data Removal Coverage Index. Each review shows its row from those tests.

What the site doesn’t claim: that a service removed my data, that it stopped a fraud, or that I used it for months. Removal results take weeks on a paid plan, and the site doesn’t buy paid plans. Where something wasn’t checked, the page says so with a date.

How this site makes money

Affiliate commissions only. If you sign up for a service through a link on this site, the vendor may pay a commission. The price you pay is the same. Commissions don’t change a score or the order of a ranking, and services without an affiliate program are reviewed on the same scale. The full list of programs is on the affiliate disclosure page.

There are no ads, no sponsored posts, no paid listings, and no “featured” spots.

What this site doesn’t do

  • It doesn’t give legal or financial advice. For a case of identity theft, start at IdentityTheft.gov, the FTC’s official site.
  • It doesn’t publish coupon pages or promo-code roundups.
  • It doesn’t claim that any service removes your data permanently. Brokers re-list people, and removal is an ongoing subscription.
  • It doesn’t invent reviews, quotes or ratings. Every count comes from a dated tally.
  • It doesn’t link to vendors outside the /go/ route, so every affiliate link is recognizable.
  • It doesn’t recommend ways around free-plan limits, geo-blocks or workplace filters.

Who writes

I’m Daria Klochko, and I write every page on Vetted Privacy. I open the test accounts myself, take the screenshots, and read the policies before a page goes up. Scores are set by me, by hand, against the scale on the methodology page.

Nobody else edits a score, and no vendor sees a page before it’s published. I don’t accept test accounts with conditions attached, and I don’t take payment for placement. When I get something wrong, the correction goes on the page with the date.

Corrections

Spotted an error, an outdated price, or a screen that no longer matches? Email me through the contact page. Price and policy corrections are checked against the vendor’s site and fixed within a few business days. The page’s “Updated” date changes only when the content changes.

This page contains no affiliate links.
