Opt-out forms and policies change; we checked this one on 10/08/2026.
Quick answer: Yes, you can opt out of Whitepages for free, with no account. The tool at whitepages.com/suppression-requests takes 5 steps and verifies you with an automated phone call. No phone? Use Whitepages' privacy webform or email instead. Whitepages says California requests can take up to 15 days (checked 10/08/2026).

- No phone? Whitepages' privacy webform or privacyrequest@whitepages.com work without one. Whitepages says to allow up to two business days for a reply.
- Whitepages says California opt-out requests can take up to 15 days. Its 2025 median reply was 16.8 hours.
- A removal service is worth it when you want dozens of brokers handled, not just this one.
What Whitepages shows about you (and where it gets it)
Whitepages’ help center says it “aggregates and publishes publicly available contact and property information.” Its privacy policy, updated 06/22/2026, names the sources: data licensors, public records, affiliated entities, marketing companies and other consumers. A free search result shows a name, an age range, current and past cities, other names, relatives and a partly hidden email. Paid reports add more, and each card says “Powered by Whitepages Premium.”
Whitepages can’t edit a listing. Its help center says you can only remove the whole listing, and only from Whitepages’ own sites. Public records stay where they are.
Step 1: Find your listing on whitepages.com
Search your first and last name with your city and state in the People Search box. Whitepages’ help center says to click “View Details” on the result that matches you. Check that the phone number and address are yours before you go on.
I couldn’t test the form end-to-end because Whitepages had no listing for my test identity on 10/08/2026. The search returned one result, a different person with a similar name. I didn’t open that listing or use its address. Before showing results, the search page made me pass a “slide to verify” check.
Step 2: Copy the listing URL and open the opt-out page
Copy the address of your listing page from the browser bar. Whitepages says it ends with a reference code, usually 11 characters. Then open the opt-out tool, which Whitepages calls a suppression request: whitepages.com/suppression-requests.
Paste the URL and click “Next.” The tool checks the listing before it moves on. With the example URL from Whitepages’ own instructions, it stopped with an error. So you can’t skip the search in step 1.
Step 3: Confirm by phone or email
The next four steps come from Whitepages’ help center, because I had no listing to submit. You confirm the details and click “Remove Me.” You pick a reason, which Whitepages says won’t affect the request. Then you enter a phone number and click “Call Now to Verify.”
An automated call asks for the four-digit code shown on your screen. Once it’s accepted, the page confirms that the removal is in progress. Whitepages says the number is used only to complete the opt-out. Give the minimum they require: a number you can answer now, nothing more.
If you’d rather not give a phone number, Whitepages offers two other routes. One is the privacy request webform, and the other is an email to privacyrequest@whitepages.com. The webform requires your email, your state and a subject, and the listing URL is optional. Whitepages says to allow up to two business days for a reply.
Step 4: Wait and check again
Whitepages says California opt-out requests may take up to 15 days, though many are processed sooner. Its California notice reports 36,517 opt-out requests in 2025, with 12 denied and a median reply of 16.8 hours. Those are California figures, not a promise for every state.
To check, run the same search in a private browser window. Google may still show the old page for a while. Whitepages’ help center says cached copies can take “up to 30 days in some cases” to clear.
What came back: why your profile can reappear
Whitepages builds listings from records it keeps buying and collecting. A new record can create a new listing after yours is gone. Whitepages says it removes “all known connected listings” with the one you submit. If one comes back, it asks you to use the webform or email.
Owners describe a harder process. On 10/08/2026, Whitepages had 140 Trustpilot reviews and 1.2/5.
Three reviews from the last 24 months say Whitepages refused or failed to remove data. One quoted support on 09/11/2025: “We cannot remove just an email address we are only able to remove an entire listing.” I didn’t verify each case. Reddit didn’t load from my connection, so these come from Trustpilot only.
No opt-out removes your data permanently. Whitepages can list you again from new records, so search for yourself again every few months.
Opting out of Whitepages Premium and related sites
Whitepages’ terms of service, updated 04/07/2026, name whitepages.com and 411.com as its free sites. 411.com carries a “© Whitepages Inc.” footer. None of the opt-out pages I read says whether removing a Whitepages listing also clears 411.com. Search 411.com separately after your request goes through.
Premium reports use the same listings, so there’s no separate Premium opt-out. If you pay for Premium, your account details are a separate matter. Whitepages says they aren’t added to its directory and aren’t sold.
Opt-out rights vary by state. California residents can also use the CCPA “Delete my personal information” request (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.105).
California’s free Delete Request and Opt-Out Platform (DROP) sends one deletion request to every registered data broker. Brokers had to start processing those requests on 08/01/2026 (checked 10/08/2026).
When a removal service is cheaper than your time
Whitepages is one site. Each people-search site has its own form, and Whitepages alone wants a listing URL plus a phone call or a webform. The services below send those requests for you and repeat them.
I didn’t wait for any removal to complete. What I checked is each service’s published broker list and checkout. Broker counts by service are on the Data Removal Coverage Index.
On 10/08/2026, DeleteMe’s list legend marked whitepages.com “Included in Standard Plan and above.” Standard was $129.00 for a year at checkout, with no tax line for a New York address. There’s no free plan, and DeleteMe opens the account only after payment. Create your account on DeleteMe’s site:

DeleteMe’s renewal price wasn’t shown before payment, and its support answered my email in about 6 minutes. Read the full DeleteMe review for what the checkout and the terms say.
If you’d rather use another service, Incogni lists Whitepages on every plan, from $95.88/year. OneRep lists whitepages.com among its people-search sites on all plans, as covered in the OneRep review. Optery lists Whitepages only on Ultimate, $249/year, and Optery’s free plan shows where you appear but doesn’t remove it.

FAQ
Is Whitepages opt-out free?
Yes. Whitepages' Consumer Privacy Rights page says you don't have to create an account or make a purchase to opt out (checked 10/08/2026). The automated tool asks for your listing URL and a phone number. The webform and privacyrequest@whitepages.com cost nothing either.
How long does Whitepages take to remove a listing?
Whitepages says California opt-out requests may take up to 15 days, often less. Its own 2025 figures show a median reply of 16.8 hours on 36,517 opt-out requests. Google may keep showing a cached copy for up to 30 days, per Whitepages' help center (checked 10/08/2026).
Why is my information back on Whitepages?
Whitepages builds listings from public records, data licensors and other sources, so a new record can create a new listing. Whitepages asks you to use its webform or email if a listing comes back after an opt-out. It says it removes all known connected listings with the one you submit.
Do I have to give Whitepages my phone number?
Only for the automated tool, which verifies you with a phone call and a four-digit code. Whitepages says the number is used only to complete the opt-out. To skip it, use the privacy webform or email privacyrequest@whitepages.com. Whitepages says to allow up to two business days for a reply.
Does a removal service cover Whitepages?
On their published lists of 10/08/2026, DeleteMe covers Whitepages from its Standard plan, and Incogni and OneRep list it on all plans. Optery lists Whitepages only on its Ultimate plan. I didn't wait for any removal to complete.
