How to Remove Yourself From TruePeopleSearch in 2026
Reviewed · Updated
Opt-out forms and policies change; we checked this one on 10/23/2026.
Quick answer: You can opt out of TruePeopleSearch for free, without an account. By the latest guides, it takes two forms and an emailed link that expires in 24 hours. Some requests are denied by state. The site blocked my non-U.S. connection on 10/23/2026, so the steps follow recent outside guides.
- You need your name, an email address, and a date of birth or street address. The phone field isn't marked required.
- About 29% of opt-out requests were denied in TruePeopleSearch's 2026 California filing. Owners in several states got a no.
- A removal service makes sense when TruePeopleSearch is one of dozens of sites to clear.
What TruePeopleSearch shows about you (and who runs it)
TruePeopleSearch is a free people-search site. Anyone can look you up by name, phone number, email or address, and see addresses, phone numbers and relatives without paying.
It’s run by Free Data Services, LLC, with a PO box in San Francisco, according to California’s 2026 data broker registry. The entry names only TruePeopleSearch.com and lists the company as not regulated by the FCRA.
Step 1: Find your listing on TruePeopleSearch
Start by searching your name with a city and state on truepeoplesearch.com. You’ll want to know which records are yours before you opt out, since past addresses can sit in separate listings.
I couldn’t test the form end to end. On 10/23/2026, truepeoplesearch.com answered my non-U.S. connection with a Cloudflare block page, not a check I could pass. The same happened on /removal and /privacy.
If you see the same page from home, turn off your VPN or try another network. The phone line in Step 2 is the other way in.
A DuckDuckGo search limited to truepeoplesearch.com found nothing for our test identity. Search engines don’t index every listing, so that alone doesn’t prove there’s no record.
Step 2: Open the opt-out form from the Do Not Sell page
From here on, the steps come from outside guides, since I couldn’t reach the site. The newest one I found is DeleteMe’s, last updated 09/15/2026.
Scroll to the footer and click “Do Not Sell My Personal Information.” On that page, the “How to Opt Out” section offers the online form or a call to 888-838-4803. TruePeopleSearch gave the same number in its California registration. Guides also list the direct address, truepeoplesearch.com/removal.
Step 3: Fill in the first form and confirm by email
The first form asks who you are, with “The subject of the request” or an authorized agent. Then come your first and last name, an email address, a consent box and an hCaptcha “I am human” check. The button is “Send Request.”
This only sends an email. Per DeleteMe, it has a “Click here to fill out the form” button, and the link expires within 24 hours. NetReputation says the same about the 24 hours. Check your spam folder if it doesn’t arrive.
Step 4: Fill in the second form
The emailed link opens a “Personal Information” form with your name and email filled in. In DeleteMe’s image, first name, last name and email are required. Date of birth is required only if you don’t give a street address.
DeleteMe’s text tells you to fill in your phone number, but its own image shows the field without a required mark. Give the minimum the form requires, and match what your listing already shows. Then confirm the review box, pass the “I am human” check and click “Submit Request.”
Step 5: Wait and check again
The guides don’t agree on timing. NetReputation quotes TruePeopleSearch as saying to “allow 3 days” for full removal. DeleteMe says anywhere from 72 hours to 45 days. In its 2026 California registration, TruePeopleSearch reported a median of 1 day to respond to opt-out requests.
To check, search your name again in a private browser window. Search Google for your name with “truepeoplesearch” too, since old results can linger.
Not every guide shows the same flow. Optery’s (07/24/2026) and TraceKill’s (07/17/2026) describe a search, “View Details,” then “Remove This Record” and an email link. If the site shows you that version, follow what’s on screen.
Why TruePeopleSearch may deny your request
TruePeopleSearch’s own numbers show denials are common. In its 2026 California registration, it reported 433,773 opt-out requests. It complied with 309,142 in full and denied 124,631, about 29%.
What owners report
I read four Reddit threads from March to May 2026, through an archive, because Reddit asked our connection to log in. All four describe the same denial.
- New York, 03/14/2026. The poster got an email saying TruePeopleSearch wasn’t violating any privacy law for New York residents.
- Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, 03/25 and 04/03/2026. Both posted the same email. It said the person “lives in a state” without a consumer privacy law that covers TruePeopleSearch’s data, so “we are not able to process the request at this time.”
- Michigan, 05/02/2026. Same reason. The most upvoted replies suggested asking Google to drop the results instead.
The email offers an appeal through the “Your Privacy Rights” section of TruePeopleSearch’s Privacy Notice. It asks you to name the law you think applies, and says replying to the email won’t start an appeal.
Opt-out rights vary by state. California residents can also make a CCPA deletion request, but that right covers only data a business collected from them (CCPA, California Attorney General). Their right to stop a business from selling their data has no such limit. They can also send one free deletion request to registered brokers through California’s DROP platform. Brokers must check it at least every 45 days since 08/01/2026, and Free Data Services is registered.
If you’re denied, Google’s “Results about you” lets you ask Google to drop search results that show your phone number, home address or email. It doesn’t touch the listing on TruePeopleSearch itself. More in how to remove your personal information from the internet.
Why your listing can come back
TruePeopleSearch’s Do Not Sell page, in DeleteMe’s image, asks people to “refresh your opt-out request.” DeleteMe says people-search opt-outs are “rarely permanent,” because sites relist profiles when they find more data.
TruePeopleSearch.net is a separate site with its own form, per NetReputation. It returned a Cloudflare 522 error to me on 10/23/2026, and it isn’t in TruePeopleSearch.com’s California registry entry.
No opt-out removes your data permanently. Search for yourself on TruePeopleSearch again every few months.
When a removal service is cheaper than your time
One TruePeopleSearch opt-out is two forms and an email, if your state gets one. The problem is repeating it on many sites every few months. On 10/23/2026, OneRep’s list for its Individual and Family plans had 317 public data brokers, including truepeoplesearch.com. Our Data Removal Coverage Index counts every service’s list.
Create a free OneRep account to see where your name appears first. Removals start with a 5-day trial that needs a card, then $99.95/year for one person (checkout, 10/08/2026). OneRep’s founder said in March 2024 that he still owned a stake in Nuwber, a people-search site. The OneRep review covers it.
No service can make TruePeopleSearch honor a request it refuses by state. A service sends and repeats the requests for you.

FAQ
Is the TruePeopleSearch opt-out free?
Yes. The opt-out runs through a free online form or a phone line, 888-838-4803, and no account is needed. The guides I checked on 10/23/2026 describe no fee at any step.
How long does TruePeopleSearch take to remove a listing?
Guides disagree. NetReputation quotes TruePeopleSearch as saying to allow 3 days, and DeleteMe says 72 hours to 45 days. In its 2026 California registration, TruePeopleSearch reported a median of 1 day to respond to opt-out requests.
Why did TruePeopleSearch deny my opt-out?
Owners in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Michigan posted denial emails in 2026. The emails said they live in a state without a consumer privacy law that applies to TruePeopleSearch's data. The email points to an appeal process in its Privacy Notice.
Do I have to give TruePeopleSearch my phone number?
Not by the form in DeleteMe's image of it, where Phone Number has no required mark. You do need your name, an email address, and either a date of birth or a street address.
Does opting out of TruePeopleSearch remove me from TruePeopleSearch.net?
No. NetReputation describes TruePeopleSearch.net as a separate site with its own form. It wasn't loading on 10/23/2026, and it isn't in the California registry entry for TruePeopleSearch.com.
Does a removal service cover TruePeopleSearch?
Several do. On their published lists, OneRep and Incogni cover it on every plan and DeleteMe on Standard (10/08/2026). Optery lists it only on Ultimate.
