How to Remove Yourself From BeenVerified in 2026
Reviewed · Updated
Opt-out forms and policies change; we checked this one on 10/09/2026.
Quick answer: You can opt out of BeenVerified for free, without an account or a phone number. On 10/09/2026 it took a name search, a pick from the results and an emailed link. BeenVerified says the record drops in about 24 hours in most cases.
- You need a name, a state and an email address. No phone, date of birth or ID.
- The online form removes one record. Property and contact listings have separate forms, and PeopleLooker needs its own request.
- A removal service makes sense when BeenVerified is one of dozens of sites to clear.
What BeenVerified shows about you (and where it gets it)
BeenVerified is run by The Lifetime Value Co. through BeenVerified, LLC. Its privacy policy (updated 09/09/2026) says report data comes from third-party providers and “publicly available records and sources.” That covers names and aliases, current and past addresses, phone numbers, emails, relatives, neighbors and court records.
The same company runs PeopleLooker, NumberGuru, NeighborWho, Ownerly, Bumper, PeopleSmart, ReversePhone and MoneyBot5000. BeenVerified also says it isn’t a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.
Step 1: Open the opt-out search
Go to beenverified.com/svc/optout/search/optouts. The homepage footer didn’t link to it when I checked. The “Opt Out” link sits on BeenVerified’s privacy page. A Cloudflare check comes first, then the search: first name, last name and state.
Step 2: Find your record and click Proceed to Opt Out
Each result shows a name, age, city, birth month and year, aliases, relatives and past locations. Pick the one that’s you and click “Proceed to Opt Out.”
My test search on 10/09/2026 returned “No exact match” and two records for other people with similar names. So I couldn’t test removal end to end: BeenVerified had no listing for our test identity on 10/09/2026.
Step 3: Confirm by email
The next screen asks for an email address and an hCaptcha check, then “Send Verification Email.” It doesn’t ask for a phone number. I opened this screen and entered nothing, since the record wasn’t ours.
By BeenVerified’s FAQ, you click the link in that email, and a second email confirms the record is opted out. It says it uses the address only for the verification email.
Step 4: Wait about 24 hours and check again
BeenVerified says the opt-out takes effect the next time its servers refresh, “in most cases” 24 hours after the confirmation email. To check, search your name again in the opt-out search, in a private window or after clearing your browser history.
Its own numbers run slower for formal requests. For 2025, BeenVerified reported 68,352 California opt-out requests, all complied with, at an average of 9 days and a median of 10.
What came back: why your profile can reappear
BeenVerified’s FAQ is direct about it. A data partner can send “a new record about you that we cannot match to the existing record,” and that new record can show up. You’d email privacy@beenverified.com to remove it.
No opt-out removes your data permanently. BeenVerified can list you again from new records, so search for yourself again every few months.
Opting out of BeenVerified’s other searches and PeopleLooker
- One record per request. The online form removes one record. If you find more, BeenVerified asks you to email privacy@beenverified.com.
- Property and contact listings. BeenVerified says your name might still show in its other search services. Property Search and Contact Search each have their own opt-out form.
- PeopleLooker. Same company, separate form. BeenVerified says it can only remove records from its own site. See the PeopleLooker opt-out.
Opt-out rights vary by state. California residents can also use the CCPA “Delete my personal information” request (CCPA, California Attorney General). BeenVerified’s policy says it aims to answer verified requests within 45 days, up to 90.
What owners report
Reddit blocked our connection, so I read BBB. BeenVerified isn’t BBB-accredited, and its profile carries a “Pattern of Complaints” alert: 526 complaints in 3 years (10/08/2026). Of the 30 latest (06/09/2026 to 09/15/2026), two were about removing data. Most of the rest were about charges and subscriptions, often after a $1 trial.
- On 08/19/2026, one owner wrote that BeenVerified “often cites the lack of a comprehensive privacy law in my specific state as justification for denying data removal requests.”
- Another said on 08/18/2026 that the opt-out “has not been successful.”
- In both cases, BeenVerified replied within a week that it had processed the opt-out, and warned that “removal occurs in stages.”
So if the form doesn’t work for you, a BBB complaint or an email to privacy@beenverified.com has worked for others.
When a removal service is cheaper than your time
One BeenVerified opt-out is quick. The trouble is the count: BeenVerified alone has three forms, PeopleLooker needs a fourth, and OneRep’s published list has 314 people-search sites (10/08/2026).
If you’d rather hand it off, I’d look at Optery. Its Extended plan lists both BeenVerified and PeopleLooker. Extended was $149/year or $14.99/month on 10/08/2026, and Optery’s free Basic account scans first, without a card. Its Core checkout didn’t show a total or renewal price before asking for a card. FAQ
Is BeenVerified opt-out free?
Yes. BeenVerified's opt-out FAQ says you never have to pay to remove your own record and you don't need to be a member (checked 10/09/2026). You need only an email address to receive the verification link.
How long does BeenVerified take to remove a listing?
BeenVerified says the change shows up the next time its servers refresh, which “in most cases” takes 24 hours after its confirmation email. For 2025, it reported an average of 9 days to respond to California opt-out requests.
Why is my information back on BeenVerified?
BeenVerified's FAQ says a data partner can send a new record about you that it can't match to the one you removed, and that record can appear. It asks you to email privacy@beenverified.com to remove it. Check again every few months.
Do I have to give BeenVerified my phone number?
No. On 10/09/2026 the form asked for a first name, last name and state to find the record, then only an email address. It didn't ask for a phone number, date of birth or ID.
Does opting out of BeenVerified remove me from PeopleLooker?
Not by BeenVerified's own text: it says it can only remove records from its own site. PeopleLooker, from the same company, has its own opt-out form. On 10/09/2026 both showed the same records for our test search.
Does a removal service cover BeenVerified?
Some do. On their published lists, OneRep covers it on every plan, DeleteMe on Standard, and Optery from Extended. Incogni's list didn't include BeenVerified (10/08/2026).
