How to Remove Yourself From Intelius in 2026
Reviewed · Updated
Opt-out forms and policies change; we checked this one on 10/09/2026.
Quick answer: You can opt out of Intelius for free through PeopleConnect's Suppression Center, and one request also covers TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate and US Search (checked 10/09/2026).
- Intelius asks for your full name, date of birth, and an email or phone number that's already on your record. No account needed.
- Intelius doesn't say how long removal takes. An outside guide reports about 72 hours.
- Suppression hides the name-search report only. Your name can still show in phone, address and email searches, so a removal service makes sense when Intelius is one of many sites to clear.
What Intelius shows about you (and where it gets it)
Intelius is a PeopleConnect brand, like TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate and US Search. Its FAQ says it “compiles publicly available information from various public databases, government entities, commercial data providers and other sources” into on-demand reports.
A name search starts on the homepage.
On 10/09/2026, a search for our test name ran for over a minute and asked questions about the person. Meanwhile it listed the record types it looks for: arrest records, misdemeanors, sexual offenses, bankruptcies, address info and phone numbers. The results page itself didn’t open from our connection.
Intelius separates two kinds of data. “User Data” is what it collects from you as a visitor or customer. “Public Data” is what it compiles about you from other sources. State privacy laws cover the first. The opt-out below is for the second.
Step 1: Open Intelius’s Privacy Center
You don’t need to find your listing first. Scroll to the footer of intelius.com and click “Exercise My Data Privacy Rights.” It opens the Data Privacy Center at app.intelius.com.
In the Privacy Center, open “View Public Data Tools” and click “Manage My Suppression Rules.” Skip the User Data tools for this. Intelius says deleting your User Data “will NOT prevent other users from searching for your Public Data.”
Step 2: Enter your email in the Suppression Center
The button opens suppression.peopleconnect.us. Step 1 asks for an email address and a checkbox agreeing to PeopleConnect’s terms. PeopleConnect says the address “is used only to facilitate and process your suppression request.” Use one you can open right away.
This is where our run stopped. On 10/09/2026, I entered our test email, checked the box and clicked Continue. The page answered “Something went wrong, please try again.” PeopleConnect’s server returned a block page to our connection, the same thing that happened on the TruthFinder opt-out on 10/08/2026.
If you see the same error, try again without a VPN. One of the 20 latest BBB complaints (09/22/2026) describes an “API error” at the same tool.
Step 3: Confirm your email, birth date and record
I didn’t reach these screens, so this part comes from Intelius’s own FAQ and from Redact’s walk-through, updated 05/21/2026. Redact sells its own data-removal tool.
- Open the email from PeopleConnect and click the confirmation link.
- Enter your date of birth. Intelius says it’s used “to locate a corresponding Background Report because many people share names.”
- Enter your full legal name, plus any former names.
- Pick the record that’s you.
- Per Redact, the form shows partly masked emails and phone numbers from your record. Pick one you still control, type it in full, and enter the code PeopleConnect sends to it.
Intelius’s FAQ explains why: an email or phone number already on the report is how it confirms the report is yours. Give only what the form requires. If you don’t recognize any of the masked contacts, Redact says the page has a link to PeopleConnect’s customer care team.
Step 4: Set it to Suppressed, then check again
According to Redact, verifying isn’t the end. Open the “Desired Behavior” menu, choose “Suppressed” and click Save. PeopleConnect says that setting applies “on all people search sites in the PeopleConnect family including TruthFinder.com, InstantCheckmate.com, Intelius.com and USSearch.com.”
Intelius doesn’t say how long it takes. I found no time frame on its Privacy Center, the Suppression Center or the privacy policy (10/09/2026). Redact writes that suppression usually takes effect within 72 hours, up to 10 business days. After a week, search your name on intelius.com in a private window.
What stays visible after you opt out
Suppression hides the report that comes up for a name search. Intelius’s own FAQ lists what it doesn’t hide.
- Your name “may continue to appear” in phone, address or email reports, which open when someone searches by those details.
- The original sources keep the data. Intelius says suppression “does not affect whether the information will be available from other sources.”
- Records with “subtle discrepancies and inaccuracies,” such as a misspelled name, may not match your suppression.
If you still see your details after suppressing, Intelius asks you to email privacy@intelius.com. It also lists (888) 245-1655, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–4 p.m. Pacific (10 a.m.–7 p.m. ET).
No opt-out removes your data permanently. Intelius can build a new report from new records, so search for yourself again every few months.
Opting out of TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate and related records
- One request for the PeopleConnect sites. By PeopleConnect’s text, your suppression covers Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate and US Search. It doesn’t cover Classmates.com. We’ve written up the TruthFinder opt-out separately.
- Your name in other people’s reports. The Privacy Center has a second form that stops your name from appearing as a “possible relative or associate” in someone else’s report. It asks for your name, date of birth, city, state and email.
- Connecticut. Intelius’s policy (revised 09/29/2026) says that from 10/01/2026, Connecticut residents can ask it to delete publicly available information compiled into a profile. The request goes by email with your name, date of birth, city and state, and a current email address.
- California. The policy says Intelius processes deletion requests sent through the state’s DROP platform, but that DROP “does not apply to publicly available information.” It recommends using the Suppression Center as well.
Opt-out rights vary by state. California residents can also use the CCPA “Delete my personal information” request (CCPA, California Attorney General). For User Data, Intelius’s 2025 report lists 105,645 deletion requests with a median response under one day.
What owners report
Reddit blocked our connection, so I read BBB. Intelius.com is BBB-accredited with an A+ rating and 365 complaints in three years (10/09/2026). Of the 20 latest (04/05/2026 to 09/22/2026), 15 were about getting data removed.
- One wrote on 09/19/2026 that Intelius “refused to grant my request based on no privacy laws in my state.”
- One found their data again after an earlier suppression (09/02/2026).
- One said “the verification methods are outdated, none of them work since all the info is old” (08/25/2026).
- One hit an “API error” in the tool (09/22/2026).
Intelius answered each with the same template: it couldn’t verify the person from the complaint, and they should contact support or use “Manage My Suppression Rules.” Its reply also confirms that a verified suppression is “applied across affiliated public-records search sites within the same corporate family.”
When a removal service is cheaper than your time
Intelius is one request, and it covers four sites. The problem is the rest: OneRep’s published list alone has 314 people-search sites (10/09/2026), and your name can come back on any of them.
If you’d rather hand it off, I’d look at OneRep. Its Individual plan lists intelius.com, instantcheckmate.com and truthfinder.com, so one plan covers the PeopleConnect family. Individual was $99.95 a year on 10/08/2026, and its checkout showed the renewal price before payment. More in the OneRep review.

| Service | Intelius on its published list (10/08/2026) | Cheapest plan that lists it |
|---|---|---|
| OneRep | Yes, people-search list on every plan | Individual, $99.95/year |
| Cloaked | Yes | Individual, $119.99/year |
| Optery | Yes, Ultimate only | Ultimate, $249/year |
| DeleteMe | Custom request, not on the Standard list | Standard, $129/year, as a custom request |
| Incogni | Not on its list | — |
Optery’s site search confirms the tier: Intelius is covered by Ultimate only (10/09/2026). DeleteMe’s help center says PeopleConnect doesn’t honor DeleteMe’s requests, so count on doing this one yourself even with DeleteMe.

What we checked
- Opt-out form at suppression.peopleconnect.us, opened from Intelius's Privacy Center: entered our test email on 10/09/2026 — the form said “Something went wrong” and PeopleConnect's server blocked our connection. No confirmation email, no listing re-check
- Intelius pages: homepage, footer, Data Privacy Center with its FAQ, privacy policy (revised 09/29/2026) — captured 10/09/2026
- Intelius name search for our test identity: the search ran, then the results page didn't open from our connection (10/09/2026)
- Steps after the email screen: from Intelius's own FAQ and Redact's guide (updated 05/21/2026), not from our own run
- Owners: 20 most recent BBB complaints about Intelius.com (04/05/2026–09/22/2026); Reddit blocked our connection
- Removal services: published coverage lists of OneRep, Optery, DeleteMe, Incogni and Cloaked (10/08/2026); OneRep's and Optery's lists re-checked 10/09/2026
- Where the run stopped: email step of PeopleConnect's Suppression Center on 10/09/2026: the form returned an error because its server blocked our connection, so the steps after it come from Intelius's own FAQ and an outside guide
FAQ
Is Intelius opt-out free?
Yes. Intelius's Privacy Center says the suppression option “is free, and you do not need to be a subscriber” (checked 10/09/2026). You don't need an Intelius account.
How long does Intelius take to remove a listing?
Intelius doesn't print a time frame on its Privacy Center, the Suppression Center or its privacy policy (checked 10/09/2026). Redact's guide, updated 05/21/2026, says about 72 hours, up to 10 business days. Search your name again after a week.
Does opting out of Intelius also remove me from TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate?
Yes, by PeopleConnect's own text: one suppression covers Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate and US Search. It doesn't cover Classmates.com, which PeopleConnect also owns.
Why is my information back on Intelius?
Suppression hides the background report that comes up for a name search. Intelius says your name can still appear in phone, address and email reports. Owners on BBB also report data coming back after an earlier suppression. If it happens, Intelius asks you to email privacy@intelius.com.
Do I have to give Intelius my date of birth?
Yes. Intelius says it needs your full name, date of birth, and a phone number or email address you can verify. The date of birth is used to find the right report, because many people share a name.
Does a removal service cover Intelius?
Some do. On 10/08/2026, intelius.com was on OneRep's list for every plan and on Optery's list for its Ultimate plan only. DeleteMe lists it as a custom request, and Incogni's published list didn't include it.
