Quick answer: Yes. Optery has a free plan with no time limit, and Free Basic asked for no card when I signed up (checked 10/08/2026). It scans data brokers and shows where your profile appears, but removal needs Core at $39/year. Optery's site advertised a fall sale code, but I couldn't verify it without a card, so I don't list it here.
Is Optery free? The full answer
Yes, and it’s a plan rather than a trial: Free Basic has no end date. I signed up on 10/08/2026 with a name, country, email, password, state, city, and birth year. Optery didn’t ask for a card, a phone number, or an SSN.
The free account ran a full scan. It finished in about 25 minutes and showed one matched profile and one Google result for my test identity. No charge can happen on Free Basic, because there’s no payment method on file. The first charge comes only when you pick a paid plan and enter a card.
What’s in the free plan (and what isn’t)
The free plan finds and shows. The paid plans remove. This table is based on my free account and the plans page inside it on 10/08/2026.
| Feature | Free Basic | Core, $39/year |
|---|---|---|
| Scan of data brokers and Google | Yes, with screenshots | Yes, monthly |
| Automated opt-outs | No: “0 / 633” covered | 152 named sites, 380 with Expanded Reach |
| Self-service opt-out links | Yes, 405 sites listed | Yes |
| Exposure risk per site | “Upgrade for coverage” | Not checked: needs a paid plan |
| Names and cities for removals | Unlimited, self-service only | 1 name, 1 city and state |
| Custom removals | No | No, Ultimate only |
| Support | “Standard Email Support” | Same, priority on Ultimate |
| Card needed | No | Yes |
The free plan’s exposure report and screenshots are the useful part. The table of 405 sites gives you a link per site, so you can do the opt-outs yourself.
One detail matters if you upgrade to Core. Its 380-site figure includes Expanded Reach, which Optery turns on only after you sign a limited power of attorney. Optery’s help center says it may send your name, city, and state to brokers that didn’t have them (10/08/2026). Without it, Core lists 152 named sites.
Where the free plan ends
The free plan ends at removal. On 10/08/2026, the dashboard showed “0 / 633” data brokers covered next to an “Upgrade Coverage” button. Every row in the site table read “Upgrade for coverage” in the exposure column.
Custom removals were locked too, with “Exclusive feature for Ultimate subscription.” Map blurring in settings said it requires Extended or Ultimate. Inside those limits, you can scan, view screenshots, and follow the opt-out links yourself.
What you pay after the free plan
- Core: $39/year, or $3.99/month month to month.
- Extended: $149/year, or $14.99/month.
- Ultimate: $249/year, or $24.99/month. This is the only plan that lists Whitepages and Intelius.
- Tax and renewal: plus sales tax — varies by state. The checkout I saw showed neither tax nor a renewal price before the card step.
Prices verified on 10/08/2026 on Optery’s site. The full table and cancel steps are on the Optery pricing and plans page.
Coupons, discounts and extended trials
On 10/08/2026, every page of optery.com showed a banner for a 20% “Fall Sale” code. I entered the code in the Core checkout, but the check returned “Payment Declined” because no card was on file.
We list a code only after it takes money off in a checkout, and this one couldn’t be checked without a card. You’ll see the current banner on Optery’s own site.
Optery’s help center lists two other discounts as of 10/08/2026. Neither comes from a checkout test:
- Special-circumstance codes: 20% off for people with “special circumstances and needs,” with eligibility on Optery’s promo codes page.
- Optery for Family: 20% off with two paid members, 25% with three, and 30% with four or more. Family plans can’t take a promo code.
Only one code applies per account, and codes can’t be stacked. The pricing page listed no free trial of the paid plans on 10/08/2026. Instead, every paid plan has a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first purchase.
How to create the free account (short version)
- Go to Optery’s sign-up page and choose “Sign Up with Email.”
- Enter your name, country, email, and password, and accept the terms.
- On the next screen, enter your state, city, and birth year, then click “See Results.”
- Click “Scan Now” on the dashboard or wait for the scheduled scan.
The full walk-through with screenshots is on the how to use Optery page.

You don’t need any account to opt out of people-search sites such as Whitepages and Spokeo yourself. Our Whitepages opt-out steps and Spokeo opt-out guide walk through the free forms. Is the free plan worth starting with?
Yes, if you want to know where you appear before paying. The free scan took about 25 minutes, needed no card, and shows each site with a link to opt out yourself. It won’t remove anything. If the scan finds you on Whitepages or Intelius, check which plan lists them before you upgrade, because Core doesn’t.

FAQ
Is Optery free?
Yes. Free Basic has no time limit, and it asked for no card when I signed up on 10/08/2026. It scans data brokers and shows where your profiles appear, but you send the opt-outs yourself. Automated removals start with Core at $39/year.
Do I need a credit card to sign up for Optery?
No. The free sign-up on 10/08/2026 asked for a name, country, email, password, state, city, and birth year. A card only comes up when you choose a paid plan.
What does the Optery free scan include?
The free scan checks data brokers and Google and shows each match with a screenshot. On 10/08/2026 it listed 405 sites with links, so you can opt out of each one yourself. It covers none of them for automated removal: my dashboard showed “0 / 633” brokers covered.
How much does Optery cost after the free plan?
Core is $39/year, Extended $149/year, and Ultimate $249/year, plus sales tax — varies by state. Prices verified on 10/08/2026 on Optery's site. The Optery pricing page has the renewal terms and cancel steps.
Is there an Optery promo code?
I couldn't verify one on 10/08/2026. Optery's site advertised a 20% sale code, but the code check in checkout needs a card first, so I don't list it. Optery's help center lists 20% codes for people in special circumstances and up to 30% off for family plans.
Does Optery auto-renew, and can I cancel anytime?
Yes, paid plans renew for the same term at the then-current non-promotional rate, per the terms (03/13/2026). You can cancel a paid plan anytime under “Account,” and it stays active to the end of the term. Free Basic has nothing to renew.
