What you’re actually buying
They solve different problems. DeleteMe does one thing: it sends opt-out requests to people-search sites and data brokers and reports on them every three months. Aura is a security bundle. Its plans list identity theft protection, three-bureau credit monitoring, identity theft insurance, antivirus, a VPN, a password manager and data broker removal. If you only want your address off people-search sites, most of Aura’s price pays for things you won’t use.
Price and value
For one person on a yearly plan, DeleteMe was $15 cheaper on 10/08/2026: $129 against Aura’s $144. Aura lets you pay monthly at $15 and try it free for 14 days, and DeleteMe offers neither. For a household, Aura’s Family plan covers five adults and unlimited kids for $384 a year (our math: $32/mo × 12), against DeleteMe’s four people for $329.
Coverage: what each one removes
DeleteMe shows you the list. Its Sites We Remove From page had 957 unique domains on 10/08/2026, with a legend marking the 91 included in Standard. Aura says it removes your data from 425+ brokers but doesn’t publish which ones, so we couldn’t score it on our control list of 16 people-search sites. DeleteMe’s Standard plan covers 10 of those 16.
DeleteMe also includes 40 custom requests a year for sites outside its list. Aura’s pricing page doesn’t mention custom removal requests.
Checkout honesty
Neither showed the renewal price before payment. DeleteMe’s checkout showed $129.00 and terms saying it renews “at either the current or full retail rate.” Aura’s enrollment showed $144.00 billed yearly and “Pay $0 now” for the trial, and its terms say the plan renews at the price shown in your account dashboard, with an email before renewal.
Data handling and cancellation
Aura asked for a home address before payment, to verify your identity. DeleteMe asks for name, date of birth, addresses, phone and email for its datasheet, and no Social Security number. Aura’s help center says you cancel online under Membership, and the plan stays active to the end of the period. DeleteMe’s help center says you turn renewal off under Billing & Subscriptions. Aura’s 60-day refund on annual plans is requested by phone. I couldn’t test either cancellation, because neither account was opened.
What people say
I found 6 threads comparing the two between 10/2024 and 10/2026, plus 5 removed by moderators. Two reasons passed our threshold, and I didn’t verify each case:
- How thorough Aura’s removal is: 3 mentions, split. One Trustpilot reviewer added Aura “to see if it would catch and remove my personal data from data brokers that DeleteMe hadn’t addressed” (Trustpilot, 07/12/2025), while two Reddit users called Aura’s removal an add-on to its main product.
- Trust: 3 mentions distrust giving personal data to any removal or identity service, Aura and DeleteMe alike.
No independent test I found measured Aura’s removals against DeleteMe’s.
